Player Poll Results: What Players Are Willing to Spend on Tournaments
In response to your feedback, we asked players how they think about tournament costs — and almost 500 players weighed in with strong (and hilarious) opinions.
|
- 34% said “If it’s a great tournament, money is no object.”
- These players want high-quality play, great organization, and a memorable experience — and they’ll happily pay for it.
- 31% said they’re choosing a “steak dinner” over “registration fees.”
- If it’s between a ribeye and a round robin… these folks are going with the ribeye so you may want to make sure you have offerings for the "burger budget" player.
- 21% said they’re hunting for discounts
- “Where’s my GroupOn?” These players are measuring every dollar against what your tournament offers.
- 14% said they only play when a partner picks up the tab.
- The ultimate budget-conscious ballers and BOGO crowd. They’ll show up… as long as someone else handles checkout.

 |
Takeaway for TDs: Over a 1/3 of our responding players will spend more when the experience is worth it. Strong organization, smooth scheduling, and a fun atmosphere all raise a player’s comfort with higher entry fees.
Bottom line: Deliver value, and players won’t hesitate to pay for quality events.

Now it's your turn to share...TD Poll of the Month If you had an easy and affordable way to test paddles at your club or tournament, would you want access to it?

Setting Up Your Tournament Events (What TDs Should Know)
|
Creating well-structured events is one of the most important parts of preparing your tournament for registration.
In the Event Setup area of your Tournament Desk, you can define everything players will see when deciding where to register — from age and skill divisions to format, entry caps, waitlists, and whether an event is included in the base fee or offered as an add-on. Clear event details help players understand exactly what they’re signing up for, while giving you full control over capacity and structure.
